Good News! Deadline to enter PHW show extended to April 18th!
You will not have to check in for Early Painting.
The Early Painting Opportunity will start April 19th, as planned. You can start painting then and paint through May 3rd, 2024.
Rules for early painting:
* We won't be stamping canvases this year, which is why you don't have to check in for the Early Painting time period.
* Early paintings must be painted within these dates: April 19th - May 3rd, 2024.
* The Location for the Early Painting Opportunity must be anywhere in Ellis County, Texas.
* Deadline to turn in all paintings, whether painted early or during the regular paintout period, must be turned in on May 24th between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
*You will be issued special labels which will take the place of stamping canvases, in your artist packet, when you check in for the regular show along with instructions on how to use them May17, 20th or 21st.
Remember : Check in for the PHW paintout week show is still required!

Welcome to the 17th Annual Paint Historic Waxahachie!
ABOUT THE EVENT: This event will take place in Waxahachie, Texas located 30 miles south of Dallas, Texas. It is known as the Gingerbread City and Crepe Myrtle Capital of Texas. It’s full of historical buildings, parks, shopping venues, walking trails, new housing editions, multiple eating establishments, a beautifully preserved downtown area and one of the most beautiful courthouses in Texas.
The early painting opportunity includes all of Ellis County.
VENUE: The host for our venue is The Hamilton at Garden Valley, a new, upscale active adult, living community with lots of special amenities and many special events.
AWARDS: Best in Show $3,000, 1st Place $2,000, 2nd Place $1500, 3rd Place $1,000, Honorable Mentions FOUR @ $ 250 each, plus Merchandise and products from art supply sponsors.
A special award will be given to the best “Saving Places” painting chosen by Historic Waxahachie Inc. judges. The list of specific locations to paint for this award will be included in the artist ‘Check in Packet.”
PUBLICITY & PROMOTIONS:
The Chamber of Commerce, Conventions & Visitors Bureau, and Downtown Merchants Association all support this Paint Out and will be promoting this event through local print & social media.

INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
To participate in this event, artists must submit 1 image representative of their best plein air work and pay a non-refundable $75 registration fee. Images must be jpg and under 4 mb. For best results, images should be 1920 pixels (min. 800) on the longest side @ 72 dpi or higher.

ARTISTS CHECK IN & PAINTING SUPPORT STAMPING:

3. Artist’s Event Packet available at check in – Artist packets will include name badge, special painting apron, rules & prospectus, invitation to award ceremony, maps, places to paint in Waxahachie and more.
4. Canvases must be stamped by ECAA EVENT STAFF prior to painting TO BE CONSIDERED IN JUDGING FOR AWARDS.
5. TURN IN DEADLINE FOR JUDGING 12:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, MAY 24,2024
6. A maximum of 5 paintings, pre-stamped in advance on blank canvas, panel, & paper will be accepted for awards and must be turned in before 12:00P.M. ON May 24, 2024.
7. All submitted artworks must be FOR SALE and presented in GALLERY QUALITY frames & ready to hang with screw eyes & wire (no sawtooth hangers).
8. We ask that you do not remove unsold paintings until of the show May 25th , 3:00 PM.
9. Paintings cannot exceed 20” on the longest side and must be no smaller than 8” on one side. (Excluding frame) NO EXCEPTIONS.
10. Unframed paintings must be gallery wrap/ museum wrap.
11. Gallery wrap/museum wrap canvases must be a minimum of 1½” thick. No staples on sides. Edges must be completely dry before submitting work.
12. Space permitting, additional paintings will be accepted for the exhibition and sale after judging.
13. Artists must paint within the Waxahachie city limits during the Paint Out week (MAY 17-24, 2024. During this week, we encourage artists to paint in the historic downtown area.
