MARCH - GUEST ARTIST
About the Demo:
As you can see from these images we are sharing of Robbie's work, he's a very accomplished painter in the "traditional" sense. He was our guest artist 4 years ago and demonstrated his technique in portrait painting using the "sight-sizing" method and a limited palette of 4 colors.
This gifted artist is now exploring the centuries-old technique of Fresco painting...which is painting on plaster....(think: Michelangelo) He will give us a brief history of the art, explain the process, show the difference in plaster layers, specifically the arriccio (base coat), and theintonaco (the layer that gets painted on), transferring an image onto the wet plaster, & how to mix pigments for fresco painting. Now...if this sounds "boring" .....you couldn't be farther from the truth!
Robbie is not only gifted, he's very entertaining and engages the audience completely! You don't want to miss this demonstration - and in the process, you might accidentally discover a new (old) way to "make art"!
Please come and help us welcome Robbie back to Waxahachie!
