The “Impatient Realism”
of John Cook
"Sombrero" by John Cook
Best in Show award in 2014 American Impressionist Society National Juried Exhibition.
From bunnies to pewter, French ruins to Texas diners, John Cook’s oil paintings bring the artist’s painterly vision to bear on moments of beauty from daily life.
The subject matter of his paintings ranges extensively and includes everything from barnyard animals to classical still life compositions, yet the artist’s vibrant style carries throughout. Cook works with a loose brush that conveys freshness and immediacy, using an appealing approach that the artist describes as “a kind of impatient realism.” Driven by his perception of beauty in the created world, Cook aims to honor and perpetuate that beauty with his art.
We're honored and delighted to bring John Cook to Waxahachie on September 9 as our guest artist. You DO NOT want to miss this opportunity to watc
